OK... maybe I'm late to the game here. I have no idea how long this prank has been going on. The past couple weeks have been absolutely overwhelming with work, and I feel like I'm just coming up for air..... but I'm not clouded enough to believe this is real. www.petitelapgiraffe.com Actually, when I first arrived at the site, I was totally convinced this was a true, living animal walking around. But, then I went to the "About" page and started second guessing the legitimacy of these photos, videos, and claims. Pretty fun stuff.

Desynchronosis -- more commonly referred to as jetlag. A physiological condition which results from alterations to the body's circadian rhythms; it is classified as one of the circadian rhythm sleep disorders. Jet lag results from rapid long-distance transmeridian (east–west or west–east) travel, as on a jet plane.
The condition of jet lag may last several days, and a recovery rate of one day per time zone crossed is a fair guideline. Wikipoo In January, one of my 2011 predictions was to see a major mobile OS vendor acquire one of North America's primary wireless carriers. In that prediction, I put a heavy emphasis on Google being that vendor... but now, after what we've seen these past couple weeks, I would love to see Microsoft dive headfirst into the carrier/operator world. Microsoft has nearly $45bn cash on their balance sheet -- more than any other software company in the world. Shareholders have already expressed concern about these numbers, despite buybacks and dividends. The bottom line is that MSFT is way too cash heavy and only made two small acquisitions last year. They need to start spending. A former [3-time] client of Corum's, Alan Gould, recently wrote a piece about Microsoft making a massive investment into the carrier world. His logic is easily defined in these few sentences: One check buys you 40 Million, 60 Million, 80 Million, 300 Million recurring revenue paying customers. You no longer compete with iPhone, Android or Blackberry…you support them. The new war, the right war, the war that make sense for Microsoft will be in the acquisition of one or more wireless carriers. Microsoft simply buys themselves all the recurring revenue seats they want and can start off in the hundreds of millions. Here's to hoping that the SEC, FTC and FCC will pass the deal. So much Snow in these Mountains. 30" Sunday/Monday, plus an additional 6" last night... thats 3-feet of snow in 48hrs. While this wouldn't seem terribly uncommon in the Rockies - where most of the snow is deposited in large storm systems - in the NW, we tend to get steady levels of 2", 3", maybe even 6" at a time. 3-feet is highly irregular.
Snakes on planes are awesome. But, do you know what's really awesome...? WiFi on planes. This is sort of a love/hate thing. I love it for these 24/48hr business trips.... an extra 3, 4, 5-hrs getting work done that I procrastinated the night before. A trip to Boston, a trip to NYC, a trip to Austin.... not exactly short trips, right? But with in-flight WiFi, the time flies. Of course... on the opposing side of this excitement is the fact that I always cherished those few hours in the sky for reading my latest book-of-choice, staring out the window, and getting hammered on cheap (read: gross) red wine. Conclusion: WiFi is for business trips. Red wine is for all trips. Aside from being confined to my miniature residence, being sick provided the chance for me to throw a couple more drum kits together. I can assure you, NyQuil and dexterity do not go well together. Its coming along. These were taken last week, and I'm hoping by the time I'm back in Seattle tomorrow, all the siding will be complete. I don't know what justice the photos do for the untrained eye, but the siding actually looks spectacular. 6" Clear Cedar, Smooth Sawn, T&G with 1/4" reveal. In case you were wondering -- i spent a lot of time working through different variables like this until I made the final decision. I'll snap some more photos in the next few days when we get the deck top sheets on there -- its like 1750sqft... probably the biggest deck known to man.... bigger footprint than the house itself. I'm not kidding. I recently acquired this new drum Maschine. I've never had one of these little gizmos before, but I've always wanted to spend some time with one. I remember seeing some black dudes on an old Akai MPC 2000 -- thinking to myself, "Wow, that is really cool... I bet I could do that". I certainly have not reached elite status yet, but learning how to use this instrument has been a lot of fun. Now, if we wanna get really deep into the history of drum machines, they have actually been an extremely integral and influential part of modern music -- particularly Hip-Hip, House, Breaks, Jungle, Dub-Step, etc.... the primary groups of music based on samples and synthetic drum sounds. Nearly every major producer on the planet has relied on drum machines for portions of, or the entirety of their tracks at some point. The original drum machine was actually called the "Rhythmicon".... it was about the size of a refrigerator, made in 1930 by Léon Theremin -- Yes, the same guy who invented the Theremin in 1924. Enjoy the vid.... I'm definitely still learning, still having a good time! OK. I loved "This Is It", and "The Kings Speech".
This Is It -- if you have any interest in music, music production, event production, or Michael Jackson -- wow, this movie was incredible. I happen to have an interest in all of the aforementioned areas... so this was your standard homerun. Watching MJ, his pure connection with everything he was doing -- music, dance/choreography, background, production.... He is/was a true genius. There are so very few people in the world like him: those with the combination of raw talent, innovation, differentiation, vision, capable of seeing something from inception/concept all the way through to delivery. Steve Jobs......... Bill Gates...... Oprah....... MJ. The King's Speech -- I just saw this in the theater and I have to say that it was one of the best cliffhangers i've seen in quite some time. No, there were no actual cliffs, or action, or thriller-type motifs.... but man, i had to stop myself from biting my nails and grinding my teeth during this one. Colin Firth and Geoffery Rush are awesome!! |
AboutI work in Tech and Real Estate.
